Library Services & Fees

How to apply for membership:

• You can apply for library Membership online at our OPAC site Liberty.

After registering online you will receive an account confirmation email. After that you will receive an email regarding membership payment. You will become a confirmed member after you pay.
• Or you can fill out the following form: Library Membership Form and submit it at the National Library main counter during official hours or Children's Library counter during their official hours. Or you can mail the membership form to info@nlm.gov.mv

Membership Fees & Fines

For books that are overdue, fines will be charged per book/cd for each day they are not returned.
Fines will only run for a duration of 3 months.

All payments done online via Bandyeri Pay Portal.

Photocopies are taken for educational purposes.

Entire books cannot be photocopied.

Book Donation

Books can be donated to the library to either the National Library main service area counter on official days (SAT-THURS) from 09:00 - 17:30. Main counter area is on first floor of Art Gallery Building Block B, Medhuziaaraiy Magu, Male'.

OR to the National Library Corporate office which is open from SUN-THURS from 08:00 - 14:00. Corporate office is in the ground floor Art Gallery Building Block B, Medhuziyaaraiy Magu, Male'. Entrance to the Corporate office is on the side of the building facing Shaheed Kuda Adamge Kuda Thuthu Hingun (same road as H. Sakeena Manzil).

Book can also be donated to Children's Multimedia Library which is open from SAT-THURS from 10:00 - 15:45. Children's Multimedia Library is located at Palestine Hingun (behind Maafannu Madharusa), Male.

Study Room

Need a quiety place to study? You can use our study rooms for your studies as well. The study rooms are available at National Library building 1st floor during official hours. No charges for using study room.

Kiyavathi Booking

For group studies and discussions you can book our Kiyavethi room at National Library building during official library hours.

Activity Space

Organizations can utilize our Institute Room for meetings, presentations and various activities. You just need to fill out the following pdf form: Activity Space and mail it to info@nlm.gov.mv.

Browsing Station

National Library has 4 computers that can be used by customers during official hours with no additional charge.

Customers will have access to our library catalog, membership site (OPAC), E-Resource as well as applications like Foxit PDF Editor (for editing PDF files), Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and graphic designing applications like Photoshop Light Room, Krita and Inkscape.

Note that any files saved on the computer will be automatically erased after every restart. Do NOT use the browsing stations to store files.

Children's Multimedia Library Saturday Activity
